The thesis is conducted to investigate the English conditional sentences in terms of their structures and uses, then find out all types of conditional sentences in this novel and their equivalents in Vietnamese. At the same time, the thesis identifies the similarities and differences in the grammatical features and pragmatic functions of conditional sentences used in the novel and their Vietnamese equivalents, and then offers some implications for Vietnamese researchers and learners on how to translate English conditional statements.
