Description
Summary:This graduation paper aims to discuss the conditional sentences in the novel “The Call of the Wild” by Jack London. The thesis is conducted to investigate the English conditional sentences in terms of their structures and uses, then find out all types of conditional sentences in this novel and their equivalents in Vietnamese. At the same time, the thesis identifies the similarities and differences in the grammatical features and pragmatic functions of conditional sentences used in the novel and their Vietnamese equivalents, and then offers some implications for Vietnamese researchers and learners on how to translate English conditional statements. The study's findings indicate that both languages have some similarities in the grammatical structure features of conditional sentences; however, there are also differences due to different linguistic structures and cultural contexts.
